Evansville Bend is the designation of the horseshoe bend in the Ohio River where the city of Evansville, Indiana is located. Through a quirk of early politics, Kentucky owns the Ohio River to the north low water mark. But rather than separating the two states, the river has become a cohesive force joining Indiana and Kentucky people who love boats. Our USPS Squadron, Evansville Bend, includes members from both states. The name "Evansville Bend" was selected when we were designated a division of our parent Kentucky Lake Squadron. It was obvious that our burgee should use a design symbolic of this bend in the Ohio at our headquarter city. The stylized Evansville Bend is shown in white with Indiana in blue and Kentucky in red. The colors are our national colors as well as those in the USPS Ensign we proudly fly. The blue area is at the top and the red at the bottom of the pennant, their customary positions in the American flag, shield and other national symbols.
