Memorial Day weekend kicks off the unofficial start of boating season.  For me, the river conditions allowed me to make the 2 day trip from Inland Marina down the Ohio and Cumber-land Rivers to Green Turtle Bay on Lake Barkley.  I will miss the convenience of having the boat in Evansville and the friends I’ve developed at Inland Marina but look forward to joining David Bryant and others for a summer of Lake Barkley boating.  Evansville is fortunate to have a local marina, thanks to the Rieckens. A thank you to David for hosting our boating club on his luxury houseboat on May 20 at Green Turtle Bay.  Several members were able to join in the festivities.  Gatherings such as this is good to give boating members a chance to interact socially in a setting that we all enjoy –BOATING!  Thanks David!! At the May Bridge meeting, there was discussion of following our national or- ganization and working in “America’s Boating Club” into our name.  We are considering “America’s Boating Club –Evansville Bend” or the two names in reverse order.  Please forward any com-ments you have as to our Club’s name to a Bridge member.  We will finalize our Club’s name at the Bridge meeting on June 13.   As I mentioned last month, a focus of mine, as your Commander, is to increase membership.  Please assist me and your Club in this effort.  Think of those you know who enjoy boating – whether they have a boat or not.  Invite them to every meeting until they join!  They will thank you!  You’ll hear more of our efforts to increase membership in future newsletters. I hope you’re able to make it to our June 28th meeting to hear Ced Hus- tace a local legend!  It will cer-tainly be an entertaining and an in- teresting speaker. Until next month, safe boating, Commander Tim
