I was honored to accept the position of America’s Boating Club – Evansville Bend’s Commander at the very well-attended COW at Oak Meadow County Club on April 22.  I’ll be following in the footsteps of Past-Commander David Bryant – a well-regarded leader of Evansville Bend and our community.  Thank you Dave for your leadership the past 2 years!!  I look forward to serving alongside my fellow Bridge Officers Sam Richey, Executive Officer; Jay Picking, Administrative Officer; Ron Eberhart, Secretary; David Bryant, Treasurer; and Janice Elwood, Education Officer. I’d like to thank those involved in hosting a successful ABC Class held at Green Turtle Bay on April 29 and 30 - David Bryant who organized and promoted the class, Sam Richey who taught the class and Janice Elwood, Jay and Suzy Picking for proctoring and Janice for registering the students.  We had a total of 10 students in the class!  Jay and Jim Elwood performed Vessel Safety Checks.  GREAT JOB folks!!  David Bryant will be hosting Evansville Bend members and guests on May 20 for a lock-through on his luxury house boat departing Green Turtle Bay.  I also look forward to our first social dinner under my watch on May 17 at 6:00 pm at Logan’s Road House off of Burkhart. A goal that will have my focus is to increase membership to allow others to gain what I’ve gained from Evansville Bend over the last 3 years.  If you’re reading this, please think of those within your circle who enjoy boating and invite them to one of our meetings. They will thank you for it – just as I appreciated Ron Eberthart inviting me.  Bridge will be exploring ways to maximize our appeal and then “get the word out” to our community.  Hopefully, I’ll see you on the water or at a future meeting.
